Cheryl Cole opened Children In Need with a performance of her new single Promise This.
Wearing a red floaty lace number, Cheryl started with an acoustic rendition of the track before switching into the complex dance routine she had performed on The X Factor just weeks before.
Halfway through the performance, the group of make dancers were also joined by ballet dancers in black tutus and pointé shoes.

Coming back out on stage to talk to hosts Terry Wogan and Tess Daly, Cheryl said: 'This is one of my favourite events.
'There's so many kids in the UK in poverty that really get a little bit overlooked sometimes, so it's amazing to be supporting them.'
Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all appeared in a video montage pleading with viewers to donate money to Children In Need.

Peter Andre was over at the BT Tower in London with Pudsey Bear speaking to those looking after the phone lines, including Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati and EastEnders actor John Barrowman.
Many celebrities have pledged their support for Children In Need, with The One Show presenters Jason Manford, Alex Jones and Chris Evans having completed various challenges every week on the BBC show.
But tonight it was the turn of Chris Evans, who was chosen by viewers to join window cleaner Paul Wright to clean the windows on one of the highest buildings in Canary Wharf.

There are 4,000 windows and it takes four window cleaners a month to get all the way around the building.
Speaking about the experience, Chris admitted: 'I was definitely more nervous, frightened than I thought I was going to be, I have to admit.'
Through viewers voting for The One Show presenters to do various challenges, the programme raised a staggering £103, 850.80 for Children In Need.

Racing car drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were drafted in to help a group of young carers get a taste on life on the track with a timed relay on a go karting track.
And, after their teams took the the track, it was time for Jenson and Lewis to compete.
However, while the winning team was eventually Jenson's team, Lewis got the fastest time by two tenths of a second.

Westlife joined Radio 1 presenter Reggie Yates at Belfast's Odyssey Arena to perform their new single Safe.
The first total of the night showed £5,753,764 had so far been raised on the programme.
Of that total, Countryfile's John Craven told Terry the programme had raised a staggering £500,000 through their 2010 calendar

Throughout the show, various videos showing exactly how the money raised is used to help disadvantaged children in the UK.
Stars who appeared on the videos and encouraged people to donate money included Miley Cyrus, Colin Farrell, Kylie Minogue.
After performing her new single Better Than Today, Kylie told Tess and Terry: 'I would just like to thank everyone for being here. You can really feel the spirit in the studio.'

Doctor Who stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan met a young former meningitis sufferer with his brother, and treated them to an afternoon tea in the Tardis.
They also treated viewers to a sneak peek of the show's Christmas special, which stars Harry Potter actor Michael Gambon.
Next up was a Children In Need Strictly Come Dancing special starring The Saturdays singer Rochelle Wiseman and McFly star Harry Judd.

Talking about taking part in the special, Rochelle, who danced the American Smooth with partner Ian Waite, said: 'I'm so pleased to have been asked to do Strictly, especially as it's for Children In Need this year. For the first time, I'm going to have to be really serious and that's what I'm most worried about.
'From what I've seen of the American Smooth it's very graceful and that's not a word I would use to describe myself! I'm worried about the lifts, that what I'm most scared about.
'If I don't do too well, I blame the song. If I'm not getting into it, it must be something to do with the song.'

That could be to do with the fact that Rochelle was dancing to All About You, one of the most famous songs from her competitor's band, McFly!
Rochelle and Ian were then judged by regular judges Craig Revel-Horwood and Len Goodman, as well as Terry Wogan and Pudsey the bear.
Craig: 'I loved that end lift, it was brilliant.'

Champion: But Harry's Paso Doble was the best, and he was voted the winner of the Strictly special
Len: 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I thought the lifts were done with confidence, I was very very pleased and I think you did a wonderful job, well done.'
Next up was Harry, who performed the Paso Doble with partner Ola Jordan.
Talking about the show, Harry said: 'I have absolutely no dance experience, I have never danced in my life, it's just ridiculous. Ninety-nine per cent I'm doing this for Children In Need, but one per cent is purely for Dougie's enjoyment.

'It would be good to get a few positive comments. It's Children In Need so they can't be too harsh.'
After the performance, Len said: 'From the moment you started, you were rampant. You were good.'
Terry added: 'It was exciting, tremendous - the true spirit of the bullfight.'
Even Craig liked the performance, saying: 'Mc-Fabulous, I loved it!'
And it seemed the audience agreed as Harry and Ola were crowed champions of the special, going home with a special Pudsey trophy to mark the occasion.
JLS performed the official Children In Need track Love You A Little Bit More on the show, before giving out the number for people to ring to donate.
And the boys also helped announce the second total of the evening - an incredible £8,356,800.
In a television first, Coronation Street and EastEnders joined forces when Albert Square came to Weatherfield for a one-off special in aid of Children In Need.
Hayley: 'Can I just say how thrilled we are at the concept of twinning the boroughs of Walford and Weatherfield?'
And a second group from Coronation Street travelled to Albert Square, with Kym Marsh's Michelle Connor bumping into an old-friend Alfie Moon outside the Queen Vic.
However, Michelle and Alfie's relationship didn't go down too well with Kat, who consistently poked fun at her love rival.
But the clash of cultures got a bit much for some of the cast members, such as Jessie Wallace's Kat who struggled to understand the accent of Coronation Street's Jason Grimshaw.
Kat told Beverley Callard's character Liz McDonald that her skirt was too short for the Queen Vic, adding: 'Sort it out, or I'll buy you a burka.'
